BH: Which is your favourite hotel in the whole world?
BN: That’s a hard one. I stayed in a hotel in Stockholm that is owned by one of the ABBA boys. It was a former record production office and was done out in a retro disco theme… but very stylish. The bedroom had a window directly into the bathroom/ toilet so whoever you booked in with would have to be an intimate friend!
BH: What's the naughtiest thing you've ever done in a hotel?
BN: To be honest I am usually very compliant with rules and I would hate to do something that would put hotel staff out. I usually tidy before I leave, strip the beds etc. When I was about five I went on a family holiday and ‘cleaned’ the toilet with powdered Vim. Apparently I got it everywhere so that was pretty naughty, right?
BH: Where is your dream holiday destination?
BN: I am reasonably well travelled but have yet to make it to Japan.
BH: Full English or continental?
BN: I am 100% a breakfast boy! I love a hotel breakfast and tend to work the buffet until I am as full as an egg. I love the whole smorgasbord of breakfast treats from pickled herring in Amsterdam to kefir and berries in Riga! Bring it on!
BH: Who would you most like to share a hotel room with?
BN: Apart from the person who I usually share a hotel room with… I would probably say no one! I love the luxury of a big hotel bed all to myself. Absolute bliss!
BH: What's your first choice from the mini-bar?
BN: Always Ryka vodka for me! Or an espresso martini would set me up for a night out!
BH: What do you love most about staying in hotels?
BN: The showers! Mine is a bit clunky so I love to stand under a full jet of water and enjoy the different settings. I am a cold shower boy in the mornings and that can mean a lot of swearing!
BH: If you could order anything from the BearHotel room service right now what would it be?
BN: I eat vegan most of the time for health reasons but I probably would order a dozen oysters and slurp then down with the vinegary-shallot side. I would eat them followed by a sea food platter and an overcrowded cheese board! Special treat? Pickled walnuts and some tangy chutney.
BH: Who would you recommend stays in BearHotel next?
BN: I have several friends who I am trying to persuade to check in. If I was to choose a celebrity? Perhaps that nice Russell Tovey?
BH: What do you wear to bed?
BN: Usually nothing. Keep things simple.
BH: Firm or soft?
BN: My ‘dating’ profile says that I am not bothered how firm things are just so long as we are comfortable in ourselves. However, mattresses and pillows? I would say quite firm.
BH: Ever got off with a member of hotel staff?
BN: Yes. When I was sixteen I went on a holiday to former Yugoslavia. I met a waiter who seemed eager to show me something on the beach. I was very inexperienced but he managed to help me understand what he wanted to show me! I don’t think I have ever looked back.
BH: Stolen anything from a hotel room?
BN: No. Never… honest! I’m a good boy, I am.
